The New Lexus GX 550 Receives Its First Special Edition

The latest generation of the Lexus GX (GX 550) was introduced in July of this year. The SEMA 2023 exhibition, which opened on October 31, became the venue for the premiere of the first special version of the off-road vehicle.

Different from the base modification, it features an aluminum underbody protection and 18-inch wheels with 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T off-road tires. On the vehicle's roof, there's an expedition roof rack that accommodates two cargo containers and rescue boards. Access to the rack is facilitated by a ladder at the rear. The windows of the cargo compartment have mounts for canisters and a shovel.

Technically, the special Lexus GX doesn't differ from the base off-road vehicle. Under its hood, it has a 3.4-liter Twin-Turbo V6 engine producing 349 horsepower and 479 Nm of torque.

Whether this Lexus GX 550 will enter production is not confirmed. Anyone interested can outfit their off-road vehicle to a similar 'expeditionary state' by using accessories from the manufacturer's official kit.
